ColourPop is a LLC owned and operated by a small team in Los Angeles, CA. The cruelty-free cosmetic brand has skyrocketed into the popular beauty realm through social media, and praise from popular YouTubers like Jaclyn Hill, Destiny Godley, and MannyMUA. At the beginning of the month, ColourPop debuted their contribution to the liquid lipstick trend with their Ultra Matte collection. The 25 colors, ranging from neutrals, pinks, reds, and purples, sold out within the first few hours of availability. I was lucky enough to get six of them (Trap, Donut, Bumble, Oiji, Pacific, and Lychee) and I made a swatch video, which you can view at the end of the blog.
So far, my faves are Trap, a pastel nude, and Lychee, a vibrant rich fuscia purple. I also really enjoy Bumble, a rich and deep mauve-pink. These have a great formula, go one smooth and blendable, and very comfortable to wear. The other three colors, Donut, Oiji, and Pacific, were patchy, difficult to blend, and crumbly when dried. Now, I understand that this company is still in its infancy, so absolutely no shade to them at all, but I need to make people aware of the inconsistency in the formula so that they can make an informed decision in their purchase when ColourPop restocks this product. I love all of the colors I received, and have even been able to make the more difficult colors work, but it’s also important to know the pros and cons of beauty products, especially those you can only purchase online. The price point ($6 each) makes these lippies very accessible, and worth the price, even if they don’t all work the same way.
My final thoughts on the ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lip is to Love It with caution. Watch as many videos, and read as many reviews, as you can before you make your purchase. Also, be sure to follow ColourPop on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and join their mailing list so that you don’t miss the next restock. Create your account in advance, because their site is young and their server crashes a lot when their products debut. I do plan to review more of their products, because their eyeshadows and blushes have been raved about. They’ve recently introduced some highlighters, just in time for that summer glow. Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel to be the first to know of my latest beauty uploads. Love y’all for reading, and watching. Ciao for now!
